COURSEWORK
This is a list of the Spanish language, culture, and literature courses I have taken at Clemson University from August 2019 - May 2023; two of them were taken in Bilbao, Spain in Fall 2022 (SPAN 4160 and SPAN 4980). I have also documented some of my minor requirements and select elective courses to show a range of experience.
Spanish-Oriented Courses
SPAN 3020 Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition

This class was an intense review of Spanish structure, such as; verbs, idioms, and vocabulary with an introduction to syntax and stylistics through controlled and free composition.
SPAN 3050 Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I
-
This class was a continuation of SPAN 3020, but helped us apply the knowledge to critical and creative writing with emphasis on summaries, narratives, and descriptions of a factual nature, and supported opinion.
SPAN 4110 Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition (Bilbao, Spain)

In this class we used our already acquired knowledge and expanded it with more advanced grammar structures and the use of idiomatic words and phrases to improve both our written and oral skills through written and oral exercises.
SPAN 4160 Spanish for International Business II (Bilbao, Spain)

This class prepared us with the knowledge, languages, cultural skills, and global perspectives meant for us to use in the global workplace. We practiced skits from today's global business practices, which helped us find new ways to communicate with others, connect with a new culture, and take a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
SPAN 4980 Independent Study: Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition II (Bilbao, Spain)

This class was a continuation of SPAN 4110, but we expanded more on the practice of formal, academic presentations and reports both written and oral.
SPAN 3140 Hispanic Linguistics

In this class we studied language and its components; the sounds, structure, words, and their meaning. We also viewed the ways in which language systems vary and change over the years.
Minor Requirements Courses
PSYC 3060 Human Sexual Behavior

In this class we studied how sexuality is one of the fundamental drives behind everyone’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. As well as, how it defines the means of biological reproduction, describes psychological and sociological representations of self, and orients a person’s attraction to others.
PSYC 3700 Personality

In this class we studied how personality develops and how it influences our thoughts and behaviors; the deeper meanings behind why we do or think the things we do. We also looked at various researchers in this field and their different theories and conclusions on human personality.
SOC 4030 Environmental Sociology

In this class we studied the relationship between societies and their natural environment. We also discussed ways in which we can help to preserve the environment by determining environmental problems and the appropriate solutions for them.
Spanish Culture and Literature Courses
SPAN 3070 The Hispanic World: Spain

This class focuses on researching, as well as discussing contemporary, social, historical, and political issues in Spain to understand the culture better, while improving our reading and oral performance.
SPAN 4060 Narrative Fiction

We studied factors in the Hispanic world such as: gender issues, family, ethnicity, religion, history, etc. through various topic-generated readings from Spanish America. It was an interactive class as we discussed twice a week about what we had read and how we interpreted what was happening in the story.

SPAN 4070 Hispanic Film

We studied hispanic film and culture through the work of various directors, as well as how cinematography has developed over the years.
Other Significant Courses
MGT 3180 Management Information Systems

In this class we learned what a management information system is and how it is used for decision-making, and for the coordination, control, analysis, and visualization of information in an organization.
LANG 3000 Introduction to Linguistics

We defined what language is and studied the knowledge of what a language consists of and all its components.
MKT 3010 Principles of Marketing

We learned the four basic principles of marketing (product, price, place, and production) and how they are all interconnected. We studied them more in depth to determine how a company or business can use various strategies and techniques to assess these principles.
